Project Story

Overlooking Hells Canyon on the Oregon – Idaho border, Lime Wind is one of two community-scale, family-owned wind projects in Oregon. The Lime wind turbine foundation project entailed relocating and rebuilding six 50-meter wind turbines to BLM land in Lime, Oregon. A portion of the lower section of the towers was removed to reduce the tower height to 40 meters. The refurbished wind turbines were then relocated. MCE’s scope of work included analyzing the lower portion of the turbines to relocate the lower door and to attach the base of the shortened turbine towers to the new foundations, including the design of each foundation. MCE performed a finite analysis of the wind turbine tower foundations in order to reuse the towers.
