Project Story

MCE provided structural engineering services for the replacement of the main spillway gates for the 435 foot long diversion structure. The existing gate guideways were repaired and the wooden gates were replaced with precast concrete gate assemblies. A continuous overhead monorail hoist system was installed to raise and lower the main gates. A temporary bulkhead was designed to isolate the spillway and facilitate repairs to the gate guides. MCE prepared construction documents for the installation of new spillway gates and an overhead crane system for hoisting the gates at the Link River Diversion Dam near Klamath Falls. The replacement gates are constructed of precast concrete to replace deteriorated timber gates.
