As the structural engineer of record for this award-winning, LEED-certified community center, Miller Consulting Engineers performed structural design and construction administration services for this multifaceted project that spanned over a three-year period.
MCE met multiple benchmark deadlines for the 91,000-square-foot center, supplied structural drawings and responded to RFIs, and reviewed deferred submittals and shop drawings throughout the construction process. MCE’s average response time to RFIs was 1 to 2 hours with a solution generated quickly, keeping the GC on schedule with no down time.
This community center uses many different types of construction materials such as wood, concrete, steel, and masonry (CMU) and consists of three different areas that are seismically isolated from one another, allowing them to move independently during a seismic event.
In the end, the team exceeded the projected performance schedule and the community center, a representation of an incredible combination of talent, was presented to the customer ahead of schedule to be enjoyed by future generations to come.
