Project Story

MCE’s scope of work included the design of twelve different concrete foundations utilizing pole base reactions for the Idaho Transportation Department. Alternate mat foundation designs were provided since groundwater was encountered during the drilling of the typical circular shaft monopole foundation at a few locations. The foundation must be designed to resist the impact of lateral forces so that the sign is not ripped from the ground. One unique aspect of this project included utilizing the site-specific geotechnical report to assist in determining the soil properties for each specific location.
