Project Details

Project Story

The original Marion County Courthouse Square building was constructed in 2000, and consists of five stories of above grade and one below grade parking level. The gross area of the building (excluding the parking level) is approximately 163,000 sf.

Shortly after the original building construction, the owner of the building noticed problems including significant floor deflection, cracking/damage to the interior finishes, and malfunctioning doors and windows. MCE’s scope of services consisted of providing a complete investigation and analysis of the existing structure in order to determine the cause of the problems and provide options for remediation.

  • Finite element analysis
  • Generated options for remediation
  • Structural analysis of gravity and lateral load resisting systems
  • Provided cost estimates for greatest benefit-cost ratio
  • Directed type, extent, and locations of geotechnical borings, post-tensioned slab testing, and surveying
