Project Story

As part of an alternative energy project, Miller Consulting Engineers provided the structural engineering services to convert an existing fish storage building into a biofuel heating facility for the Ketchikan International Airport. This facility has allowed the client to cut their heating costs by more than half. The project involved replacing an oil fueled system with a renewable and more sustainable wood pellet boiler system. The project required the existing building to be strengthened to meet the current code requirements and to meet the structural demands of the Alaskan cold weather region. This project was a collaborative effort with Wisewood Energy
