Project Story

MCE was the Engineer of Record for the foundation design of the 164 ft wind turbine. A 30 ft square x 3’-9” deep mat foundation with a 14’-7” diameter x 4’-3” tall pedestal was used to resist the loads on the tower. The original design was to accommodate a 6 ft deep anchor bolt assembly system to transfer loads from the tower directly to the mat foundation. MCE modified the pedestal detailing to accommodate the new anchorage system with minimal increase in materials and design time. Duties included providing oversight of analysis, design and oversight for the load-resisting system and its elements or parts, and collaborating with the client to determine a cost-effective solution during the redesign phase of project.
