Award Overview

Story

Kroc Community Center
Miller Consulting Engineers served as the Structural Engineer of Record for this award-winning, LEED Silver-certified community center, providing structural design and construction administration services throughout the project's three-year development. The 91,000-square-foot facility incorporates wood, concrete, steel, and masonry construction and was designed with three seismically isolated building sections, allowing each portion of the facility to respond independently during an earthquake.

The project required careful coordination of multiple structural systems to support a diverse range of community, recreation, and aquatic functions while meeting sustainability goals. MCE's responsive construction support and innovative structural solutions helped keep the project on schedule and contributed to the successful delivery of a durable, high-performance civic facility recognized for excellence in design, sustainability, and energy efficiency.
