About Fire Escape Certification
Fire escape certification involves inspecting, evaluating, and documenting the condition and structural integrity of fire escapes to ensure compliance with current building and fire codes. Structural engineers identify deterioration or deficiencies, analyze components to verify load capacity, and, where conditions are unknown, may develop load tests to confirm performance. Upon satisfactory results, an affidavit is issued certifying the fire escape’s safety and compliance for the next five years.
Fire Escape Certification at Miller Consulting Engineers
At Miller Consulting Engineers, we provide structural engineering services for fire escape certifications required every 5-years, collaborating with building owners, property managers, contractors, testing agencies, and local jurisdictions. Our team performs detailed inspections, evaluates structural components, and issues final letters and signed affidavits. We also provide design for Strengthening and Deterioration Repairs services to extend the service life of fire escapes and we certify by signing an affidavit that states the egress components are in compliance with local and state provisions.
