Miller Consulting Engineers provided structural engineering services in support of the renovation and enhancement of the east side of Tualatin Commons, advancing the City of Tualatin’s vision for a new Veterans Plaza. The project transformed an aging, passive-use landscape into a reflective and inclusive civic space honoring veterans and service members. MCE’s scope focused on the structural design of site-integrated elements, including foundations for public art, seating, and signage, as well as structural support for new plaza features. Particular attention was given to solutions that reinforced the project’s priorities for ADA accessibility, use of sustainable and natural materials, and long-term durability in a public setting.
Working closely with the broader design team, MCE ensured structural systems were compatible with dark-sky lighting requirements, stormwater management strategies, and public safety goals, while remaining practical and constructible. The completed plaza reflects the City’s themes of honor, shared values, and community connection—brought to life through thoughtfully engineered features designed to serve the community for generations.
